Winchester's Local Plan 2044 scoping consultation runs to 23:59 on 9 October. Nine days before it opened, the council asked the government to let it delay.
Winchester is a small cathedral city with a great deal of history stacked in it and the Itchen running past the bottom of the High Street. The district around it is rural: Bishop’s Waltham, New Alresford, Wickham, Denmead and the villages of the Meon valley and the downs. Eastleigh, a railway town, and Romsey, on the Test, are close by but under different councils.
