4th Street Kitchen Ltd and Posh Wash Winchester are in liquidation. 36 new companies have registered in Winchester postcodes since 7 September, from a Thai restaurant to a coffee firm.
The company behind a Middle Brook Street restaurant has gone into liquidation, and so has a Winchester car wash. In the same five weeks, 36 new companies registered at addresses in the city’s SO21, SO22 and SO23 postcodes.
This is our round-up of what the public registers recorded for the Winchester area between 7 September and 9 October. Everything here comes from Companies House and The Gazette, and each entry links to its record.
Closures and insolvencies
4th Street Kitchen Ltd went into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 5 October. The Gazette notice, published on 9 October, gives its principal trading address as 6 Middle Brook Street, Winchester, and its nature of business as “unlicensed restaurants and cafes”. FTS Recovery Limited of Lutterworth was appointed liquidator by the members and creditors. Companies House records the company as incorporated on 2 May 2017. The notice records the company’s position, not the premises: whether anything is trading at 6 Middle Brook Street today is not something the register can tell you.
Posh Wash Winchester Ltd, the car wash at Unit 3 Easton Lane, went into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 25 September. The notice gives its business as “vehicle washing, cleaning and valeting services” and names Hudson Weir Ltd of London as liquidator. Companies House shows it was incorporated on 17 September 2019 and that its accounts were overdue.
Two companies trading from Hursley Park Road, Hursley, went into insolvent liquidation in September: Vicit Limited on 25 September and Huskky Limited on 22 September. In each case a director has given notice under the Insolvency Rules that the business will carry on under a new company using the same trading name. That is a legal step a director must take to reuse the name of an insolvent company.
Three further notices are winding-ups where the liquidators say creditors are expected to be paid in full. That usually means a solvent company closing in an orderly way:
- Parkhall Private Office Ltd, Nettlebed Farm, Old Alresford: creditors to prove debts by 25 October
- Schematic Limited, The Clock House, Bishop’s Sutton: first and final dividend, claims by 30 October
- Burge Carterton Limited, Chilbolton Avenue, Winchester: first and final distribution, proofs by 3 November
We have left out notices that match “Winchester” only because an insolvency firm is based at Winchester House in Taunton, and notices concerning individuals.
36 new companies
Companies House registered 36 new companies with a Winchester-area registered office between 7 September and 9 October. Many use an accountant’s address in Southgate Street or Hyde Street, so the registered office is not always where the business will trade.

A registration is a statement of intent, not proof that a business has opened. Some of these will never trade. We have left out companies whose only Winchester connection is a road called Winchester Road or Winchester Street elsewhere in the country. We do not print the home addresses that some founders use as a registered office.
What it means for you
- Trading with a company in liquidation. If 4th Street Kitchen Ltd or Posh Wash Winchester Ltd owes you money, including a gift voucher or a deposit, the liquidator named in the notice is the person to contact. The notices give their phone numbers and email addresses.
- Claims deadlines. The three solvent wind-ups have dates by which creditors must prove a debt: 25 October for Parkhall Private Office, 30 October for Schematic and 3 November for Burge Carterton. Miss the date and you can be left out of the distribution.
- Checking a new business. Any company’s filing history is free on Companies House. A new company has no accounts yet, so for a trade like plumbing or cleaning, ask for insurance and references as you would for a sole trader.
- Food businesses need to register with Winchester City Council before opening, and will then appear on the food hygiene register once inspected.
