We checked 5 places selling real Christmas trees near Winchester, from Burcot Farm's indoor wood to Cobbs, for dates and prices. Updated November 2026.

There are five places to buy a real Christmas tree near Winchester in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with opening dates, prices where they are published and what each one sells. Most people land on Burcot Farm at East Stratton, which sells its trees from an indoor wood off the A33; Temple Valley, a family-run yard between Winchester and Alresford; and Cobbs farm shop at Headbourne Worthy. Every entry was checked against the seller’s own website on 5 November 2026.

We have not bought a tree from any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry says what the seller says it does, with its own prices where it publishes them. Stock and dates change as the season goes on, so check the website or ring before a special trip.

North of the city

1. Burcot Farm Christmas Trees, East Stratton

A family-run Christmas shop just off the A33 from Winchester towards Basingstoke, between East Stratton and the Northington crossroads, about eight miles north east of the city. You choose a freshly cut tree from what it calls its “indoor wood”, out of the weather, and it is one of the few sellers here to publish its 2026 prices in full.

It sells locally grown Nordmann fir, which it calls “Premium” quality, and Norway spruce, with Nordmann firs up to 20ft. It hand makes its noble fir wreaths and will decorate one to your design, and there is a singing snowman called Bill for children.

Burcot hand picks and delivers trees up to 15 miles from the farm, which covers Winchester; the home delivery page takes orders and works out the charge by distance at checkout. For a Nordmann over 9ft it asks you to use the contact form on its 10ft-plus tree page.

Open from Saturday 21 November 2026, daily; Mon to Thu 9am to 5.30pm; Fri and Sat 9am to 6pm; Sun 9am to 5pm

2. Cobbs, Headbourne Worthy

The farm shop on Springvale Road at Headbourne Worthy, on the northern edge of Winchester, began as a watercress shed more than three decades ago and is now part of the small Cobbs group, with a butchery, deli, florist, plant centre and cafe. Its Christmas guide says trees go on sale on Friday 27 November: “traditional Nordmann firs” in a range of sizes, with Norway spruce and potted trees “also available at Winchester”, which is the only Cobbs shop to sell them.

Its staff will help you choose, wrap and carry the tree to the car. Trees are sold while stocks last.

The 2025 prices are from Cobbs’ tree sale post last year and will change; the 2026 date is from its Bring Christmas Home page. The shop also runs festive wreath-making workshops with Wildbunch Florists on 26 November and 1 and 3 December.

It sells freshly cut, Hampshire-grown Nordmann fir and Norway spruce, which it says are grown “just a few miles away”, plus wreaths and tree stands.

Staff help you choose, trim the trunk and put the tree through a netting machine. There are games for children and, at weekends, a coffee and crepe van.

4. Hillier Garden Centre, Winchester

Hillier’s centre on Romsey Road, on a site Edwin Hillier bought in 1874, was the first Hillier garden centre to open. The group says its centres sell UK-grown cut and pot-grown trees, from growers including Needlefresh.

Its most recent real tree page, still written for the 2025 season, lists Nordmann fir from 4ft to 10ft, a slim Nordmann at 6ft to 7ft for smaller rooms, and Fraser fir, with £10 off cut trees over 6ft for members of its free Gardening Club. It had not published a 2026 arrival date or prices on 5 November, so ring before you go.

The tree details are from Hillier’s real Christmas tree page, which is headed 2025.

5. Wylds Farm, Liss

The nearest choose-and-cut farm we found, about 20 miles east of Winchester near Liss. You pick a tree in the plantation and it is cut for you, or take one pre-cut from the yard; smaller pot-grown trees are sold too.

Alongside the trees it runs what it calls the Après Tree Bar for mulled wine and hot drinks, a forest trail, games in the barn, tractor and trailer rides from Friday to Sunday and hot street food at weekends. No booking is needed, and dogs on leads are welcome.

The prices are from the farm’s price guide, which does not give a year, so treat them as a guide.

Not in the guide this year

Meon Valley Christmas Trees, which grows Nordmann firs at Hinton Ampner, has sold trees at Winchester Farmers’ Market in past Decembers, but we could not find a website or any 2026 dates for it, and the Hampshire Farmers’ Markets producer list did not include it on 5 November. The market runs on the second and last Sunday of the month, so if that pattern holds, 13 and 27 December are the dates to look out for. Brambridge Park Garden Centre at Colden Common sells artificial trees online, but its site says nothing about real ones this year, so ring 01962 713707 to ask. We left out supermarkets, DIY stores and national firms that only deliver trees by courier.

Getting rid of the tree in January

Last January the city council collected real trees from every home on garden waste day in the two weeks after the New Year break, with no subscription needed, as long as the tree was out of its pot, stripped of decorations and cut in half if over 5ft. The 2027 dates are not out yet; our Christmas bin collections page will carry them.

How we chose

We looked for every business selling real Christmas trees within a short drive of Winchester, Alresford and the villages, then kept the ones whose own websites confirm they sell trees, with this year’s dates where they have published them. Prices, dates and opening hours come from those websites, checked on 5 November 2026; where a seller has not published something, the entry says so. Run a place that should be here, or spot something that has changed? Email newsdesk@winchesterpost.co.uk. Taken a good photograph of any of these places? Email it to newsdesk@winchesterpost.co.uk and we will add it with your name as the credit.
